The hash tag #NoToSocialMediaBill has been trending on social media for a few days now just after the government proposed a bill to regulate/censor social media platforms.
Nigerian youths have now taken to micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to trend the hashtag as they say the government is trying to limit their voice by censoring social media.
IGP, Lai Mohammed, El-Rufai, 19 Northern Governors are insisting they must regulate the Social Media. They are afraid of mass awakening, especially in the North.

We have to say #NoToSocialMediaBill today.
These people are trying to limit our voices so we can’t complain as they corruptly carry our money without working.

Once the social media bill comes to live, anything you say on social media about the government will land you in jail. That’s their plan. #NoToSocialMediaBill
